KiberACS – Cybersecurity Academy

KiberACS is a practical cybersecurity training programme jointly delivered by Riga Technical University and Ieva Ilvesa. Participants completed specialised cybersecurity courses while also applying their newly acquired knowledge in practice – helping assess and improve cybersecurity in the organisations they came from. In this way, the programme simultaneously developed the skills of emerging cybersecurity professionals and delivered practical digital security improvements in companies, public and municipal institutions, and other organisations.

In 2025 and 2026, 268 participants took part in KiberACS cybersecurity learning activities, significantly exceeding the original target of 170. Women accounted for 52% of participants, while 78% came from Latvia’s regions. The programme covered areas including information security governance, cybersecurity architecture, digital forensics, cybersecurity incident management and cybersecurity education.

At the same time, the programme provided practical support to 233 organisations, including businesses, municipal and state institutions, educational organisations, libraries, security and law-enforcement bodies, healthcare organisations and other sectors. The support helps organisations gradually implement the requirements of Latvia’s National Cybersecurity Law and improve their digital security – from cybersecurity maturity and risk assessments to security policies, user access management, business continuity and incident response planning, and employee training.

The KiberACS model has also received recognition at both national and European level. The programme was a finalist for Latvia’s Platīna pele 2025 digital technology award, received an honorary distinction from the Latvian Ministry of Defence for its contribution to strengthening national cybersecurity capacity, and was named among the top five finalists in the Cybersecurity Skills category of the European Digital Skills Awards 2026.

In the final stage of the programme, Ilvesa Foundation took over part of Ieva Ilvesa’s responsibilities in managing the programme.
